Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today I would like to begin with a story.

Yes, that's a memorable scene in one of my favorite movies, called Gorillas in the Mist, based on a true story of Mrs. Dian Fossey, who spent most of bet lifetime in Rwanda to protect the ecoenvironment there until the very end of her life.

To me, the movie not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a 6） timeless reminder that we should not develop the tourist industry at the cost of our ecoenvironment.

All these 7） appalling（令人震惊的） facts have brought us to the realization that we can no longer stand by and do nothing, because the very thought of it has been 8） eroding（侵蚀） our resources. Encouragingly, the explosive growth of global travel has put tourism again in the spotlight, which is why the United Nations has made 2002 the year of ecotourism, for the first time to bring to the world's attention the benefits of tourism, but also its capacity to destroy our ecoenvironment.

Now every year, many local ecoenvironmental protection organizations an: receiving donations--big notes, small notes or even coins--from housewives, 9） plumbers（水管工人）， ambulance drivers, salesmen, teachers, children and 10） invalids（残疾人）， Some of them can not afford to send the money but they do. These are the ones who drive the cabs, who nurse in hospitals, who are suffering from ecological damage in their neighborhood. Why? Because they care. Because they still want their Mother Nature back. Because they know it still belongs to them.

This kind of feeling that I have, ladies and gentlemen, is when it feels like it, smells like it, and looks like it, it's all coming from a scene to remember, a scene to recall and to cherish.

The other night, as l saw the moon linger over the land and before it was sent into the invisible, my mind was filled with songs. I found myself humming softly, not to the music, but to some- thing else, someplace else. a place remembered, a place untouched, a field of grass where no one seem to have been except the deer.

And all those unforgettable scenes strengthened the feeling that it's lime for us to do something, for our own and our coming generation.

Once again, I have come to think of Mrs. Dian Fossey be- cause it's with her spirit, passion, courage and strong sense of our ecoenvironment that we are taking our next step into the world.

And no matter who we are, what we do and where we go, in our mind, there's always a scene to remember, a scene worth our effort to protect it and fight for it.

However, in the religious world or among the superstitious people, the belief in afterlife is very popular. They do not only believe in afterlife, but thousands of reincarnations as well. In the mysterious world, there are the paradise and the hell, the celestial beings and the gods, the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas.

Maybe they really believed it, or maybe they just wanted to make use of people’s veneration, the ancient emperors always declared that they were the real dragons, the sons of God, while the royal ministers claimed to be the reincarnations of various constellations. But can the stars reincarnate?

Many people burn incense and kowtow, do good deeds and strive for virtues, not just for the present, but mainly to let God see their sincerity so as to be reborn into a better afterlife, or to achieve the highest enlightenment after several lives of practice. They do believe in afterlife. But I can’t help asking: Suppose there were no afterlife, would you still do good deeds and strive for virtues? And If God does not see what you are doing, would you still be so upright and selfless? If you work, not for serving the public and liberating the others, but just for a better afterlife of your own, isn’t it a little too selfish? Comparing with this kind of believers, those who don’t believe in afterlife, but still keep doing good deeds, are the most sincere and honest philanthropists, because they do them not for themselves but for other.

You may wonder if I believe in afterlife. My answer is: I know nothing about my previous life, so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife. But I do hope there’s afterlife! Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. I have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. If there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!

I’m not contented with the present commonplace life, I’m very much attached to the affections that should have been mine but have been washed away by the hurrying time, and I yearn for the perfection and maturity if I could start all over again. So believe it or not, I’d rather there were afterlife.

Bidding for the Olympic Games is, in a way, an image-creating undertaking. The first and foremost thing is to let people fall in love with the city at first sight, attracting them by its unique image. What image does Beijing intend to create for itself once it has the opportunity to host the 2008 Olympics? It’s known to all that the Beijing Municipal Government has already set the theme for the future games: New Beijing, Great Olympics. For me, the 2008 Olympics will be a great green Olympics illuminated with two more special colors, yellow and red.

First, yellow is a meaningful color. The Yellow River is China’s mother river and the cradle of Chinese civilization. We are of the yellow race and descendants of the Yellow Emperor. This color has a special origin and great significance for the Chinese people. Beijing is the capital of New China and previously the capital for nine dynasties in Chinese history. So, yellow will naturally add splendor to the 2008 Games.

Secondly, the 2008 Olympics will be a red pageant.

Above all, the 2008 Olympics will be a green Olympics.

Certainly, all of this is no easy task. But I am sure that all of us have confidence that we will realize these “green” goals, for now we have the full support and participation of the environmentally conscious citizens. Each citizen is showing great concern for every one of the steps the city government takes. As the saying goes, “United, we stand”， and a green Beijing will be achieved.

When our aspiration becomes a reality, it will be a unique Olympics. “New Beijing, Great Olympics” will be weaved of these three superb colors: yellow, red and green.

frankly speaking, at first i had some difficulty following the teachers. however, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, i made remarkable progress. now i've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.

learning is a long process; i'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. this summer i got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. a publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.

at the beginning i was belittled by my colleagues. but they were really surprised when i translated seven english articles over 5,000 words on only one day. gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. in their opinion i turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.

i also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. so i often take part in activities concerning public welfare. i once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. we taught the kids there who could not afford school. while showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, i was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. i couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. the precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.

1 . 研究背景

圣诞节前夕的圣诞演讲是英国女王向其民众传达信息的一个重要方式，演讲的稿件内容缜密而严谨，演讲词大都由女王亲自撰写，并用皇室口音亲自演说，内容随着每年的时事热点而变化，在与时俱进的同时也显得亲切感人。而近年来在国内，每当新年之时，都会通过中央电视台向全国人民发表新年致辞，致辞内容从我国当年形势出发，既有回顾又有展望，既关心国内也心系国外，稿件内容严谨充实，充满了当代中国气息。

2 . 研究原因

本文之所以选择将最新的新年致辞与圣诞演讲作为分析对比材料原因有如下几点：首先，两篇稿件新，体现着语言发展的时代性，更具有时效性；其次，两篇稿件均出自两国高层机构，内容严谨、语言精练，具有较高的分析研究价值。此外，中国国内尚未开始对总书记新年致辞与英国女王圣诞演讲进行分析研究，本文的研究有利于填补这一空缺。

3 . 研究方法

主要采用以下三种方法：

（1）资料收集法，通过可靠的相关途径收集整理了演讲的相关资料。

（2）定量分析法，在收集资料后进行定量分析整理发现不同之处。

（3）文献研究法，在研究之中搜集了相关文献在研究部分的同时也对其整体进行了了解。

当然除了以上三种主要的研究方法之外还有功能分析法等。

4 . 研究结果

两篇稿件从文体上来说都以正式文体为主。两篇文章可以说各有特色，有相同之处也有差异。

5 . 1 相同之处

总体来说两篇文章的相同之处在于：

（1）都为正式文体且演讲文章目的相似，都以表达新年或圣诞祝福为主。

（2）文章听众都为本国民众，演讲者为本国领导人或高层人士（女王）。

（3）文章内容方面都对一年度的国内国外今年发生的大事进行回顾。

当然相似之处除了以上三点还有很多，而本篇文章注重从语言文字方面来分析，就语言方面来说相似之处有：

两篇文章句子数量相近，致辞33句，演讲32句。（见图2.1）

演讲者语速平静缓和大致皆为3～4词/秒。（见表1.1）

演讲所使用语言皆为该国标准语言，普通话与正统英音。

5 . 2 不同之处

除了以上几点语言方面的相似之外，最主要的还是两者所代表的该国语言之间的差异，在此我们可以从以下两个大方面来看其差异。

5.2.1 从句子方面看两篇演讲稿件的差异

（1）平均每句字数差异显著。从分析结果来看两者虽然都以长句子较多，但是中文的新年致辞平均每句字数达到了42字而英文的圣诞演讲却只有21字，是其两倍。

（2）被动句使用差异。在汉语的演讲致辞当中几乎没有被动句（或含有被动意思的句子），而英文的圣诞演讲中却有11个含有明显被动结构的句子，占了其总句子数量的34%。（见表2.1）

（3）汉语演讲稿件句子更长。相比较而言英语演讲稿件中的句子每个句子的字数主要在21～30之间，而汉语的演讲稿件字数更多，长句子在40个字或以上。（见表2.2或图2.1）

5.2.2 从词的方面看两篇演讲稿件的差异

（1）名词使用差异。在每句所含名词来看，从横向比较来说，两篇稿件的结果相差不大，致辞在4.6个/句，圣诞演讲在5.6个/句（英语中使用稍多）。若从纵向看，把两篇文章各自的名词数与动词数做对比然后再比较结果可以发现，致辞的比例是1：1.13，而圣诞演讲的则是1：2.5；从这结果可以看出，英汉两种语言在名词使用上没有本质性差别，但是英语文章中的名词与其他词相比却占了绝对的优势。

（2）动词使用差异。就动词来说，从横向比较来说，两篇稿件的结果相差很大，致辞是4.0个/句，圣诞演讲是2.2个/句，可见汉语中动词使用得要比英语的多得多。此外从纵向比较来看（把各自文章中的动词数量与名词数量比较），汉语致辞是0.8，英语圣诞演讲是0.39；可见在汉语中动词并非处于绝对的强势，但是在英语中动词确是处于绝对的弱势。（见表3.1）

5.2.3 其他方面的差异

特殊用词方面的差异；两篇稿件虽多为正式稿件，但是在正式程度上以及用词上却有不同。在新年致辞之中，“大胆”地使用了网络热门词汇如“蛮拼的”“点赞”等；而圣诞演讲当中却并没有使用网络用词，并且所用词汇皆为非常正式的词。

除了网络词语外，在新年致辞之中还有使用非常具有本国特色的一些词语如“南水北调”“小康社会”等以及带有浓郁本国文化的成语如辞旧迎新、鸟之两翼、车之双轮、集思广益、众志成城等，但是在英国女王圣诞演讲之中却没有怎么使用，只是提及了个别地名。

6 . 反思与总结

本篇文章结合了当今最新的两篇演讲稿件――2015年新年致辞与2014年英国女王圣诞演讲进行分析，文本来源于官方，真实可靠，具有较强的时代性、可靠性。作为阶段性成果，其分析数据可为未来研究提供参考，打开一个新的研究角度。

具备一定的英语应用能力已成为21世纪国民的基本要求，对于以培养学生实用技能为主的职高学校来说尤其重要，提升学生的英语听说能力已成为职业高中英语教学的重要内容之一。然而，职高学生普遍学习自觉性差、学习能力有限，英语基础薄弱、口语表达能力更是欠缺。那么，如何能够在有限的课堂时间里提高学生英语听说方面的能力，又不至于影响读写方面的训练效果呢？经过尝试，笔者认为，实施英语课前三分钟演讲不失为一种有效的方法。

一、选取适当的演讲主题

因为是Free　Talk，最明显的问题是演讲主题的重复，缺少创新，从而不利于激发学生的兴趣和拓展新的知识面。于是，笔者想到以下几点建议：

1．结合教学内容选取主题

中职教材基础模块1　Unit　5　Keeping　Fit，可建议学生就How　to　Keep　Fit这一主题进行演讲；而Unit　10　Famous　People，则可选定A　Famous　People　I　like　Best的主题，这样既能确保选材的广泛性，同时又把书本内容和演讲主题有机地结合起来，一方面锻炼了演讲才能，另一方面又达到巩固书本知识的目的。

2．根据生活实际选取主题

开学时让学生描述自己丰富的假期生活，学校举办运动会则谈论对运动的认识和擅长的运动项目。在清明，端午，中秋等传统节日时，让学生介绍节日的特色，帮助学生更好地了解中国的传统文化；在西方感恩节时，让学生对“I’d　like　to　say　thanks　to….”这一主题进行演讲，以表达自己对家人、老师、同学和朋友的感恩之情。

3．结合写话练习选取主题

选取恰当的写话主题让学生演讲，既能起到育人作用，同时也能以此提高学生的写话能力。例如，我选用了“An　unforgettable　thing””Suggestions　on　doing　sth.”等主题让学生演讲。学生广开思路，畅所欲言，通过这样的课前演讲，积累了素材，为写话做好了准备。

二、采用多样的演讲形式

1．学生个人自述

大多数学生能够写好自我介绍，但是写好并不等于说好，为了能使学生流利地进行自我介绍，教师可以给学生提供一个推销自我、展现自我的舞台，并给予一定的点评：表达是否流畅、表现是否大方；内容是否包括了姓名、来自哪里、家庭情况、专业技术能力、个性特征、兴趣爱好、理想等，以帮助学生改进。

2.讲故事或故事接力

在课堂上，如果老师能够偶尔采用有童趣的方法，可以帮助学生发散他们的想象力，发掘他们的创造力，讲故事或故事接力就很具代表性。同学们讲的故事最好要浅显易懂，并且能和所学专业相结合，这样有助于他们今后走上工作岗位后更好地学以致用。

3.猜谜语

如介绍班上某位同学或某位名星或某位著名的作家等等，先不说他的名字，通过描述性的语言让大家来猜猜他是谁，比比看谁猜得又快又准。

4．角色扮演

如A同学扮演Doctor，B同学扮演Patient，情景再现医生给病人治病的过程，还可用上些道具来辅助表演，如医生的白大卦和听诊器等；再如可以模仿求职者和招聘官之间的对话，由老师扮演招聘官，一名学生扮演求职者，或者招聘官和求职者分别由两名学生来扮演，进行模拟对话，为学生以后的求职面试打下基础。

5.听唱英文歌曲

很多的英文歌曲都具有简单易记、朗朗上口的特点，如Jingle　Bells，　Little　Stars　，　Spring　is　Where等英文儿歌，Take　me　to　your　heart，　Two　butterflies等流行歌曲。听唱英文歌曲可以激发同学们的兴趣，还可以训练他们的语音语调及发音。

三、进行及时的评价

1．教师当场点评

笔者在每一次演讲活动结束后都紧跟着完成点评，虽然点评的语句不多，但是实践证明这是必不可少的一环。可点评的点很多，如演讲技巧、文章的立意、最出众的地方、尚欠缺的地方等。多表扬、多鼓励，老师恰当的点评，演讲学生非常看重，众多学生也听得非常认真，这是一个引导的契机，对每位学生的培养所起的作用都很大。

2．评委评分

老师和同学们都是评委，采用十分制或百分制进行打分，算分则可由课代表在课后进行。评分最重要的标准可以从仪容仪表、发音、语音语调语速、现场感染力等多方面来进行评定。所有同学演讲的最后得分都将记录在成长档案中，作为形成性评价的一个重要依据。

3．优秀演讲稿装订成册

教师选出一些结构清晰、语句通畅、用词优美的优秀演讲稿，或装订成册或张贴在教室的宣传栏上以供全班同学共同学习，积累优美的句子和演讲的素材，为同学们今后的演讲奠定基础。注重学生的成功体验同时也能激励这些优秀演讲稿的作者进一步地提高自己的写作和演讲能力，符合新课标的成功激励机制。

四、英语课前演讲的实效

1.提高学生的英语综合应用能力，尤其是口语表达能力

英语课前三分钟演讲从表面上看来只是说的能力的体现，但背后其实是英语各方面综合能力的培养。为了准备演讲稿，课前得去“写”，这有助于提高学生的写作水平；写好之后，为了能做到脱稿演讲事先得背下来，而背诵演讲稿的过程又是不断的“读”的过程；之后上台来演讲，通过“说”的方式把自己想要表达的意思呈现出来；而坐在台下的同学则须认真的“听”方能理解其演讲的主题和内容。可见整个过程实际贯穿的就是听说读写能力全方位的培养。特别要强调的是学生在反复的朗读、背诵、复述的训练过程中，更为口语的提高打下来扎实的语言基础。

2.培养学生自主探究、合作交流的学习能力

新课标要求教师“善于激发学生的学习兴趣，能够充分调动学生的学习积极性和主动性，引导学生自主探究、合作交流”。英语学习的最终目的在于运用，而课前三分钟演讲则为同学提供了个“学以致用”的舞台。学生为了写演讲稿认真准备、自我探究、钻研教材，通过学习教材明确了如何写演讲稿及演讲的技巧等，同学们利用参与三分钟演讲的方式来参与课堂教学，为了三分钟演讲而采用的合作式学习方法，都符合了教学改革的思路，极大地激发了学生主动学习的热情，从而变“要我学”为“我要学”。

3.为职高专业学生的职业生涯奠定基础

课前三分钟的英语演讲让绝大多数的学生真正意义的感受到“三尺讲台”，比如如何去克服在讲台上的紧张、如何去掌控自己的声音做到抑扬顿挫。俗话说得好“熟能生巧”，只有经常走上台来演讲，才能练就教学中自信从容的仪容仪态，为小学教育和学前教育专业学生的职业生涯奠定基础。
